MERITORIOUS FLIGHT

Copyrlsnt) (Received Feb. 9, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 8 The Royal Aero Club awarded to Mr Alex Henshaw the Britannia trophy for his Cape flight, which is judged the most meritorious air performance during 1939. On February 5 last year Henshaw left Gravesend in an attempt on the Cape record. He landed at Capetown the next day breaking the record by covering the 7000 miles in 39 hours 15 minutes. On the 7th he left Capetown on the return flight and arrived at Gravesend in 39 hours 33 minutes, completing the double journey in 4 days 10 hours 25 minutes, beating all records.
