IMPROVED MARKET FLOCKS TO 11J GUINEAS ANNUAL HAMILTON FAIR With one of the largest benches of buyers seen at a ram fair in the Waikato and with bidding, maintained on a consistent level practically right through the sale, the annual Hamilton Ram Fair held at the Claudelands selling pavilion yesterday proved a particularly successful fixture, the prices paid being on the whole an improvement on opening fairs. Approximately 1200 rams, consisting principally of one-shear flock Southdowns, were on offer, the day’s values being very satisfactory to vendors in view of the large offering. Forty vendors, representative of the Waikato and southern districts, sold at yesterday’s auction. Top money was 111 gns., which was £ of a guinea better than the best figure previously realised this season, this price being paid for a pen of three from a southern breeder. The.Jops of the flock Sc Jthdowns sold from 8 to 111 gns., good average sorts from 6 to 7£ gns., and less attractive descriptions from 3£ to 5£ gns. A quiet demand was shown for stud Southdowns, which sold from 11 to 23 gns. A small offering of Ryelands made from 5 A to 7£ gns., while one consignment of Border Leicesters, which together with the Ryelands and Border Leicesters, were sold at the end of the day when the buying bench had thinned considerably, were little in demand. Sale for Southern Rams Top money was secured by the well-known Hawera breeder, Mr W. O. Williams, who in past years has sent many attractive lines to the Hamilton fair. Three of his tops yesterday sold at 111 gns., to Mr J. Levers, of Pangaroa. Four sold at 9j gns., to Messrs Corboy Bros., while other attractive lots from Mr Williams were traded from 7 to 8 gns. Another Hawera vendor, Mr J. R. Taylor, sold an attractive consignment from 5£ to 8A gns., four selling at the latter figure and 9 at Bgns. Rams from Messrs Bremer Bros., of Waverley, were auctioned from 6£ to 8 gns., Mr R. N. Taylor, of Cambridge' buying two at the latter figure. Feilding rams from Mr J. B. Bradley were in keen request, selling from 6 to 9 gns., three selling at the latter figure. Rams from Mr D. Henderson, of Fordell, sold well from 5i to 81 gns., while those from Messrs J. Ridd and Sons, of Ashhurst, were traded from 5J to 9 gns., Mr J. Smith, of Waiterimu, buying two at the latter figure. Waikato Vendors One of the most successful Waikato vendors was Mr W. S. Harbutt, of Fencourt, Cambridge. Eight of the attractive entries from this seller sold to the bid of 9 gns., Mr J. W. Wakefield, of Roto-o-rangi, buying four at this figure and Mr R. V. Anderson, of Taihoa, also obtaining four at the «ame money. Another five from the same consignment went at 8£ gns., and another four at 8 gns. Three from the consignment of Mr H. J. Finlayson, of Tuhikaramea, were auctioned at gns.. to Mr O. H. Wallis, of Okete, while four were sold at gns., apiece. A pair from Mr R. J. Shaw, of Paterangi, made 8 gns., apiece and another pair changed hands at 7£ gns. Mr G. Mason was a buyer of two at 9 gns.. from the line ox Mr M. Cowley, of Otorohanga, while eight from the Otorohanga vendor’s consignment sold at 7! gns. Hawken rams, which are usually one of the features of Waikato ram fairs, sold well yesterday. Of a run of 15 two-shear rams from the wellknown, Mokoia breeder, Mr C. J. Hawken, five sold at 8£ gns.. and 8 at 8 gns., excellent values for twoshears. From Palmerston North came a consignment from Mr M. H. Humphries, which sold from 5 A to 8£ gns., Mr S. N. Banks, of Cambridge, and Mr J. P. Keeley, of Karopiro, each buying two at the latter figure. Attractive sorts from Mr W. J. Slack, of Bunnythorpe, were knocked down from 6 to 9 gns.

Market for Studs Studs did not meet with a very ready sale, but several changed hands at satisfactory figures. The top money of 23 gns., was paid by Mr R. W. G. Rutherford, of Taupiri, for a one-shear from Mr R. Stewart, of Bunnythorpe. Another Bunnythorpe vendor. Mr J. H. Slack, sold a oneshear to the Tamahere breeder, Mr A. Main, at 21 gns., while Mr W. Slack sold one to Mr H. J. Finlayson, of Tuhikaramea, at 12 gns. Mr A. Bethall, of Frankton, was the buyer at 19 gns.. of an entry from Mr N. Hughes, of Wanganui, while an entry from Mr S. Hughes sold to Mr E. J. Curlett at 14 gns. Mr P. McNaughton, of Morrinsvillc. secured one at 11 gns., and another at 10 gns.. from Mr W. C. Knight, of Brookby. while 12A gns..

secured one from Mr C. J. Hawken. of Makoia. lor Messrs Litsington Bros., of Kio Kiu. A few other studs sold cheaply from 6 to 11 gns.
