FOOD RESTRICTIONS IN OERMANY TRADE WITH RUSSIA NEUTRAL SHIPS DETAINED (United Press Assn.— alee. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 22 Goods en route to Germany, including 1000 hales ot cotton and 2000 tons ot ore, have been seized, according to a message l'rom Le Havre. A Daventry broadcast states that further food restrictions have been announced in Germany. From Monday next no milk will be allowed for adults. A record harvest is reported from Berlin. This is stated to be sufficient lot- 1940 and to provide a reserve for 1941, should the liarvest in that year be a poor one. The Berlin Institute of Economics stales that the diminution of trade between Russia and Germany in recent years can be ascribed to Russia's inability to obtain currency for exports. Hopes are now held out of commercial exchange. Laying of Mines Tlie Admiralty announces that mines have been laid in an area of the Nortli Sea extending roughly from the Humber to the Tyne. A communique issued by the Ministry of Information in reply to German allegations says that to September 20 200 neutral ships have been detained. Eighty were released almost immediately and the remainder had tufier part or the whole of their cargo held. They were later allowed to proceed.
