PETER PAN’S LETTER

JQEAR GIRLS AND BOYS,

Don’t the weeks seem to fly past ? The other day the Wendy Person poked her head around Peter’s door and when she found Peter simply snowed under with pieces of paper, letters, verses and competition entries, she decided then and there that it was high time for the Circle People’s office to have another Spring clean. She looked so stern and spoke In her very strictest Yolo© that the Twins and the Sunshine Girl had run off to find their dust caps and aprons almost before she had finished speaking. And then, what a scamper and a dusting went on; the dust and dirt flew In all directions and It was not very long before Peter was coughing and sneezing from the large number of little dust germs that Insisted on popping Into his mouth whenever Peter tried to speak. Tony remarked that he felt as dry as a desert, while Jenne said In her very best “grown-up” voice, “Well, Master Tony, If you would be a little bit tidier then there would be no need for us to have Spring Cleanings at all, so do stop growling and take up all the dust.” But now the Circle room* are fresh and clean once more for the floors are shining like glass and the tables and ohalrs look so neat and clean that Peter Is almost afraid of disturbing anything.

Peter and the Wendy Person have been having such lovely strolls lately and there are so many garden treasures to be found too. First of all there were three deep rose pink briar roses In bloom and very sweet they looked too against a background of deep green bushes. Then there were masses of pink flowering currant whose perfume seemed to be wafted all over the earth and white and gold arum lilies are blooming in the most unlikely plaoes with their shining green leaves clustered around them. Down the oountry lanes the lovely golden gorse is blooming In profusion and the breeze wafts Its scent along until the air seems to be laden with its almond fragrance. Golden and brown wallflowers are flaunting their velvety blossoms against a red brick wall while not far away there dances the very first tulip with Its waxen petals of rose pink fluttering in the breeze. Truly, Lady Spring has given us beautiful blossoms to remember her by and Peter finds the whole earth to be filled with the sweetest perfumes and blue and gold flowers while here and there are touches of red, pink and white sparkling In the sun. But now Peter hears those Twins scampering up the stairs so he must finish this letter with lots of love to you all and hopes for the gayest of gay gardens. From yours, Basking In the warm, golden sunshine, - """""""""
