TODAY’S WEDDING
CHITTY CLAPHAM A quiet wedding was solemnised at the Catholic Presbytery, Hamilton, this morning, when Peggy, younger daughter of Mrs E. Clapham, of Claudelands, Hamilton, and the late Mr E. H. Clapham, was married to Philip Thomas de Vere, third son of Mr and Mrs G. de Yere Chitty, of Claudelands, Hamilton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father M. J. Bleakley. The bride wore a charming London tan tailored suit and a cream {georgette blouse pin-tucked in tan. Her hat and accessories were in tan and she wore an orchid shoulder spray. She was attended by Miss Barbara Chitty, cousin of the bridegroom, as bridesmaid, who was wearing a mermaid blue suit fashioned with a swing skirt, a matching blue hat and nigger brown accessories. Her corsage flowers were orchids. Mr Robert Miller was in attendance as best man. The Reception Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bridegroom’s parents, where the rooms had been charmingly arranged with bowls of primroses, cyclamen and anemones. The guests, mainly relatives, were received by Mrs Clapham. who was wearing a reginia blue tailored suit with a matching hat and a shoulder, spray of cyclamen, and by Mrs J. T. Hawke, on behalf of the bridegroom’s mother. Mrs Hawke wore a black model frock relieved with touches of blue, a black hat and a corsage spray of orchids. When Mr and Mrs Philip Chitty left by car for a tour of the North, the bride travelled in a smart mustard suit worn with a brown hat and accessories and a musquash fur coat. They will reside at Tauwhare.
