CROQUET IN QUEENSLAND
700 PLAYERS COMPETING WINS BY NEW ZEALANDERS (United Proas. Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) BRISBANE, August 22 Fifteen New Zealanders are among the 700 entrants from most of the Australian States for ijueensland's biggest croquet carnival. The Nevl- Zealanders entered individually for tournament play and as three teams, New Zealand No. 1, Nbrth Island and South Island, for the tests. The tournaments began to-day. New Zealand winners in the Rosel Bowevent being: R. W. McCreath. 26—13; .1. Thompson, 26 —10; Mrs Nicholson, 19—6; Mrs Griffin, 26—12; Mrs Thompson, 20—17: Mrs Bagrie. 26 6; Mrs Bryant, 20—15; Mrs Brown, 18—14. In the contest for Mrs Fisher’s trophy New Zealanders won as follows:
