EMPHATIC PROTEST
PUBLIC SERVICE TESTS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Monday The mule nursing attendants at the Porirua Mental Hospital met recently and decided to record an emphatic protest against the efficiency examinations as outlined in the Public Service circular, on the following grounds: (1 That the examinations are unnecessary lor practical purposes for ali ofiiccrs who have passed their senior state examinations; (2; that definite hardship would he caused to those officers of a mature age who comprise the majority of the male nursing staff; and (3 that the efficiency test, as outlined, is a misnomer ar.d if taken as a deciding factor for promotion beyond the rank of senior attendant, would prove to be a retrograde step towards the efficiency of tlie department. It is asked that the tests be withdrawn in their present form.
