MINER’S DISMISSAL

DISCUSSION IN COUNCIL COMMISSIONER’S OPINION (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Thursday Further reference to the dismissal of Mr Bincham was made at the Waihi Miners’ Conciliation Council today. Mr J, Roberts asked what the position was. The Commissioner had said he would make a statement. The Commissioner said he thought that probably it would be just as well to let tho matter drop. Mr Bincham said he understood the Commissioner had intended looking into the matter with a view to some finality being arrived at. The Commissioner said that in the three cases he had examined the dismissal was not because of the men’s union activities. His own opinion was that there was nothing he could mention that would assist anybody. There were certain rights under the Act, hut he himself was bound not to do anything that might not lead to a conciliatory spirit in a conciliation council. The council concluded its sitting today with practically nothing agreed to.
