TALLOW, HEMP AND FRUIT THE ENGLISH MARKETS WELLINGTON, Tuesday The Department of Agriculture lias received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London, dated July 7:— Tallow. —The market is quiet. Present spot quotations are:—Mutton, line, 22s to 235; good, 20s; fair, 15s Gd to 16s. Beef, line, none; good, 17s; fair, 15s to 15s Gd. Mixed, good, 17s; fair, 15s to 15s 6d; gut, 13s to 15s. Mutton, dark to dull, 14s Gd to 16s. Beef, dark to dull, 13s 6d to 15s. Hemp.—’Manila: The market is firmer. “K” grade sold £ls 15s. Closing values July-Septernber shipment £l6. Sisal: The market is quiet and easier. September-November shipment, sold, £ls ss, which is closing value. Fruit.—The Akaroa discharged in sound condition. Soft fruity further depressing the market. Apples: Granny Smith, Os 6d to 11s Gd; Dougliertv, Os to 11s; Yafes. Rokewood. Os Gd to 10s Gd: Ballarat, 9s to 10s; Stunners, 8s to Os. PUTARURU SALE The Farmers* Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited report having hekl their monthly sale at Putaruru yesterday when a medium yarding of at! classes of cattle came forward. A few pens of dairy cattle created keen competition, selling well at recent values, while beef and boner cows sold at prices s.lightly in excess of late sales. A medium yarding of fat and store pigs .came forward. Competition throughout was keen with prices for all classes being on a par with recent quotations. Quotations. —Cattle: Fat Ehorthorn horn cows and heifers, £6 15s to £8; fat Jersey cows and heifers, £5 2s 6d to £6 6s: killable cows, £4 to £i 15s; heavy boner cows, £3 10s to £4 3s; medium boner cows, £2 10s to £3 ss; canner cows, 25s to 37s 6d; good quality Jersey heifers, springing, £8 5s to £9 7s 6d; good quality Jersey heifers, springing. £8 5s to £9 7s 6d; good quality Jersey heifers, later calvers, £7 5s to £8: small and backward heifers, £4 10s to £6; dairy cows, August calvers. £7 2s Gd to £7 15s: dairy cows, later calvers. £5 5s to £5 15s; yearling Jersey heifers, £3 to £3 10s; potter bulls. £4 15s to £6 ss. Sheep: Fat hoggets, 17s Gd to 19s. Pigs: Medium porkers, £2 5s to £2 8s; light porkers, 35s to £2 Is; large stores, 27s to 31s; medium stores, 20s to 24s 6d; slips and small stores, 15s to 17s 6d; weaners, 10s 6d to 13s. HAMILTON EAST DAIRY SALE The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited report having held their fortnightly dairy sale at Hamilton East yesterday, when a small yarding comprising mostly heifers came forward. Competition was fair for forward heifers but backward shorts were dull of sale. Quotations: Jersey heifers, close to profit. £lO to £lO ss: backward Jersey heifers, £8 to £8 15s; backward Jersey cows, £5 to £B.
