The American Export Lines offered tc buy, or charter, the Indian service alone "at 304,000 dollars, for the purchase of four vessels, or 0543 dollars a month if chartered. The Australasia Steamship Company offered to purchase the goodwill and going concern value of the Australian service for 125.000 dollars if granted an operating differential subsidy, or 85,000 dollars without a subsidy. It did not tender for the ships. The first two tenders were contingent on the receipt of an operating differential subsidy for two years.
