EMINENT CONDUCTOR
WITH VIENNA BOYS’ CHOIR Dr. Georg Gruber, the eminent conductor of the Vienna Mozart Boys’ Choir, was born in Vienna, graduated in 1926 a-t the State Academy of Music and •became in the same year conductor of the Haydn Basilica Cho ; ir. In 192 9 he was appointed professor of the Catholic People's University, and in 1930 Director of the Boys’ Choi rs ’ O rga nisa t ion. During 193 6 - 37 he was the conductor of the Vienna Male Choir this Choir is the oldest
and most important of its kind in Europe). In 1936 he conducted the Bach-Mozart Festival at the Colon j Theatre in Buenos Aires, also orchestral concerts in Rio de Janeiro and Sao j Paulo. In 1937 he conducted the j Brahms Festival at the State Theatre | in Mexico City. j Teh London Times says: "Mozart’s j boyish opera ‘Bastien and Bastienne’ ! was certainly charming, and the young j interpreters brought to it a boyish I directness that was wholly appropriate !to the little comedy.
