ANOTHER BRIGHT REVUE
MCKAY’S “GAIETIES” AUDIENCE AGAIN DELIGHTED Marked by brightness and variety from start to finish, Stanley McKay's Gaieties presented another outstanding revue at the Theatre Royal last evening. Clever and original dancing, reusing choruses, charming frock;ng and mounting, some first-class star turns, amusing comedy, and music which set the toes a-tapping—these were some of the ingredients which kept the large audience amused and entertained for well-nigh three hours. Undoubtedly the highlight of the programme, George Hurd again performed incredible balancing and Juggling feats, the onlookers gaping as each act was capped by one more daring. He did amazing things with tennis balls and a racquet, while his ability to concentrate on three, sometimes more, manoeuvres at once has to be seen to be believed. Stan Foley, big, friendly, and wisecracking, had the audience in fits of laughter, and on the comedy side he was well supported by Max Reddy, a light comedian with varied talents, Scotty McKinnon and George Corelli. Eccentric dancing of a high order was contributed by Gerry Keogh and Snowy Towers. In fact, clever dancing and tumbling acts were a lively feature throughout. Entertaining turns were also presented by Stella Lamond, well named “the personality girl”; Nellie Kolle, male impersonator; Elvy, violinist; the San Remo Brothers, head and hand balancers; Barry Ross, baritone; Assam. Pekoe, Souchon and Congo, tumblers. One of the most effective scenas of last night's show saw the entire company in a hunting atmosphere, in which the attractive “Gaiety” girls were prominent in smart riding habit. Another charming scena was “Paris in Spring,” with Stella Collier, Barry Ross and the girls. Max Reddy was responsible for the production throughout and an excellent Job he made of it.. Sound support to the company was lent byMay Brooke’s Orchestra. To-night’s Change of Programme ‘‘Eastward Bound” is the title of the revue to be presented this evening. while there will be another complete change of programme for the gift matinee to-morrow afternoon and the farewell performance to-morrow evening.
