PRE=WEDDING PARTIES

BRIDE-TO-BE HONOURED The ladies of the Morrinsville Methodist Guild gave a happy party at the home of Mrs 0. W. Martin, Park Street. Morrinsville, recently, in honour of Miss Mavis Darrell, who is to be married shortly. The rooms looked charming with bowls of scarlet salvia and Klondyke poppies. On arrival Miss Darrell was presented with a shoulder spray by Mrs West. During the afternoon items by Mrs Foster, Mrs J. West, Miss Darrell and Mrs Hastie were much enjoyed, and a cake competition caused much amusement, the winner being Mrs Kirk. Following th*b serving of a delicious supper, Mrs Ihi*g, on behalf of the Guild, wished Miss Darrell every happiness, and called on Miss Merle Martin to present a handsome tulip basket bowl. Miss Darrell suitably responded. The hostess. Mrs Martin, received the guests wearing a frock of black figured cloque relieved with gold. Mi.-: Darrell wore a model frock of leal green satin beautc trimmed with leaf brown and a l'ur cape. Those present were: Miss Darrell. Mesdames u. W. Martin, D. Darrell. G. Darrell. J. West, Brayshaw, !l. Money, .1. Parr, U. llastlc. 11. L. Foster, Blanchard. Kirk. W. Hogg. Lowry, Scott, Westlake, ML-s Myrle Martin. GIFT EVENING A large and represen la live gatlirr-inr-r assembled in the Taluanui Hall recently to honour Miss Mavis Darrall. who is shortly to be married. the function look the form of a social and dance, music for dancing being supplied by a Te Aroha orchestra, and the extras played by Mr L. Russell and Mrs H. Kerr. Mr A. Wratt was M.C. Items were contributed by Miss Avis Frampton, Mrs Dearlove, Mrs F. Brown, Mrs Kerr, Mr 11. 11. Semple, accompaniments being played by Mrs Glover, Mrs Kerr and Miss K. Semple. Miss Darrall was presented with a bouquet of pink Belladonna lilies and pompom dahlias by Miss G.‘ Wralt. On behalf of those present Mr A. J. Luxton paid a tribute to the. valuable I services rendered to the social side | of the community by Miss Darrall. and | asked her to accept the numerous gifts as a token of the good wishes and the esteem of the people of the district. Mr B. Lugton. Ngarua, suitably responded on behalf of his fiancee, after which musical honours were accorded them. A delicious supper was served by the ladies of the district.
