PAYNE—ELLIS

A quiet wedding took place in St. Paul’s Methodist Church, ißemuera, Auckland, on April 15, when Rona Mary Payne, daughter of Mrs A. A. L. Thomas, of Hairini, and the late Mr Payne, was married to William Donald Ellis, third son of Mr and Mrs J. Ellis, of Mangapiko. The Rev. Walker performed the ceremony. 'The bride, who entered the church with her brother, Mr U. Payne, wore a lovely embossed satin gown, the bodice and long pointed sleeves being becomingly ruched and the Peter Pan collar finished with a spray of orange blossom. The long embroidered veil was surmounted by a halo of orange blossom and fell in graceful folds to form a train, and she carried a sheaf of white cactus dahlias, lilies and asparagus fern. She was attended bv Mrs J. Askew, sister of the bridegroom, as matron-of-honour, wearing a duck-egg blue embossed satin frock cut on slim-fit-ting lines and falling in graceful folds to the ankles, the bodice being attractively ruched and finished with faggoting. She wore a hat to tone and carried a bouquet of lemon-shaded dahlias with streamers to match. Mr Gordon Ellis was best man. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Domain Kiosk, where Mrs Thomas received her guests wearing a tailored wine ensemble and she carried an autumn-shaded posy. Mrs Ellis wore a rust costume and her flowers were marigolds and dahlias. The bride travelled in a navy suit and navy hat with accessories to tone. Mr and Mrs W. D. Ellis will make their home at Mangapiko.
