OCCUPATION OF ALBANIA EXPRESSION OF RESENTMENT SHOULD BE A LESSON (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, April 18 Many reports which have reached London from Moslem countries in the Mediterranean area give evidence of the disillusionment created by the Italian occupation of Albania, which has aroused intense Indignation. Resentment has found particularly vehement expression in Syria, Irak and Palestine. In Syria, Jamil Bey Mardam. a former Prime Minister, at once siated his view that the seizure of Albania would have grave repercussions on Arab and ! Moslem opinion. Reports of a later I date confirm the rightness of his judgI ment. In Irak the press has shown great I indignation at the fate of Albania, and I Ironical references to signor Mussoj links claim to be the protector of Arab ! Moslems are common. | Considerable interest was aroused in Palestine yesterday by a plea lor the Jews and the Arabs to sink their difference in the face of the totalitarian menace to them both. This plea wan made In a letter published in a news- ' paper over the signature of Anwar Nashashibi, a member of a distin- ■ guished Palestinian Arab family. Honour and Decency In castigating the Italian annexation ' of Albania the writer said: "May it serve as a lesson to those who see *n Mussolini the saviour of people in chains. May it open the eyes of all those Arabs who see in the RomeBerlin axis their path to salvation. ** When the -Sword of Damocles is hanging over them the present Is the most propitious hour for the Arabs and the Jews, indeed for all the people in the East who believe in human dignity, to liquidate their differences with that spirit of conciliation and good • which necessarily is essential to any ; la sting settlement, and to support with added strength the forces of interna- ■ tional honour and decency."
