WATER SUPPLIES

ARRANGEMENTS IN HAND MELVILLE AND NAWTON ROAD The continual dry weather in the Waikato has caused a shortage of water to farmers, and settlers in the Melville and Nawton Road areas are looking forward to the time when they will be provided with regular water-supplies. For some time the provision of supplies has been discussed by the Waipa County Council and it is expected that final arrangements will be made shortly. The county engineer, Mr J. W. Civil, stated to-day that a start would probably be made with the schemes about the beginning of July and their completion would be effected in from eight to 10 weeks afterwards. Settlers would, therefore, be assured of a regular water supply for next summer.
