Copyright) LOS ANGELES, April 18 The holder of the world's heavyweight boxing title, Joe Louis knocked out the American, Jack Roper, in the first round of a 10-rounds bout for the title. The fight lasted only two minutes 20 seconds. Roper while groggy was counted out in attempting to regain his feet. A right to the jaw following a series of lefts ended a farcical fight. The bout was witnessed by a majority of film actors, who were all violently in favour of Roper. Louis won the title from James Braddock in 1937. Since then he has defeated Harry Thomas, Max Schmeling, John Henry Lewis, Jack Roper and Tommy Farr.
