THE ENGLISH MARKETS WELLINGTON, Wednesday The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London, dated April 14:— Tallow:—The market continues quiet. The present spot quotations are:—Mutton, fine 2fs to 255; good, 21s to 21s 6d; fair, J6s Gd to 17s; Beef, fine, none; good, 18s; fair, 16s to 16s 6d; Mixed, good. 18s; fair, 16s to 16s 6d; gut, 13s 6d to 15s 6d; Mutton, dark to dull. Its 6d to 16s 6d; Beef, dark to dull, 13s 6d to 15s 6d. Hemp; Manila: The market is quiet, owing to holidays and disturbed political condition. “K” grade April/June shipment, value £l7 ss. Sisal: The market is steady; closing April/June, May/July shipments, £l6 15s. New Zealand: There is nothing to report. Fruit: —Apples, “Wairangi". •Rangitiki”, Tongariro". King David apples slightly forward and some pitted; other varieties and pears in good condition. The market is well supplied from Australia, South Africa and Argentine. The following are the market values of sound-conditioned fruit of the varieties mentioned, the range of prices generally representing the difference between the several grades and/or counts, variable con-ditioned-fruit of similar varieties proportionally less in value:—King David apples, 12/6, 17/6.
