APRIL MEETING

CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE The Matamata branch of the Catholic Women’s League held its April meeting in the Fire Brigade Hall. Mrs J. McKinstry presided over a fair attendance, and Mrs W. P. Ryan acted as secretary. Apologies were received from many members, who, owing to Ulness, were unable to be present. It was decided to have two bridge parties during the year. A, sewing bee is to be held at the next meeting, when members will commence winter garments, to be distributed later to the needy. An arts and crafts circle has been formed, and should prove very popular. A suggestion that a playreading club be inaugurated was adopted with enthusiasm. A delicious afternoon tea brought to a close a pleasant afternoon. Among those present were’ —Mrs J. McKinstry, Mrs W. P. Ryan, Mrs L. Potter. Mrs McGahan. Miss N. Kilbride. Mrs Ward, Mrs J. Mclntyre and Mrs Mildenhall.
