REFUSE COLLECTION
(To the Editor; —A circular letter, issued ©vor the signature ut the Mayor, give# householders information regarding the refuse collection contract, an 1 solicit* lhdi* co-operation in certain tions. That co-operation, no douot, will be willingly accorded. The Mayor’s It tier informs ys that he contractor has undertaken to remove the coniaim/rs from near t:ie back doors, empty them, anl return them to their a pla :es. The contract, states tlie letter, became operative on Monday, April 3. That evening on returning from business i found my container thrown down at ruy front gate, and I have reason Lo believe that I was not the only resident of Claudelands who had to “cooperate” with the contractor by carrying out a duty which he had undertaken to perform, end for the carrying out of which he, no doubt, made ample provision when computing his price. There is a principle involved. The householders have a right to demand that the services for which they pay shall be rendered, and if a contractor neglects to carry out his covenant, hit contract should be determined. If it it not possible to carry out the eondiUone te eel down, then those conditions should lie amended and fresh tenders called. Ttigt i* only just procedure to all parties concerned.—*l am, etc., SICYLOCK. April 5.
