HINTS AND SUGGESTIONS
To remove an unwanted transfer from embroidery linen, wash in milk, rubbing well. Soda is the best remedy for waterdrip marks. It is also good for the stings of insects. Rub plates, tables, stoves, or anything greasy with newspaper before trying to wash or polish them. For a slight burn, a new potato is a good remedy. Scrape or grate the potato and apply it like a poultice to the injured part. Do not let soup boil, but allow it to simmer slowly. Much of the liquid is wasted in evaporation, and the best of the flavour is lost if the soup boils or is heated too quickly. Delicate flowers, such as roses, that have come some distance by post can be freshened by putting them into very hot water the moment the package is opened. French chalk is useful to keep in the house. If a nice fi/jck gets grease spots on it, spread the frock out where you can let it lie for a time and cover the spots with French chalk. Let it lie for some hours, shake out the chalk, repeat the process several times if necessary, until the spots
