SHORTAGE OF COAL
CONDITIONS IN GERMANY THE DEMANDS OF INDUSTRY (United Press Assn.—Kiec. TeJ. Copyright) LONDON, Dec. 29 A Berlin press announcement that persons holding winter relief fund coal coupons for December will not obtain supplies before January l was an official admission that Germany is suffering an acute coal shortage, says the correspondent of the Daily Telegraph. The reason is the enormously increased demands by industry in order to keep up the pace of the four-year plan. Germany’s desire for selfsufficiency in petrol is also absorbing millions of tons of coal annually for the extraction of the by-product.
