ASSAULTED POLICE
MAORI SENT TO GAOL CHRISTMAS tVE ESCAPADE (Special to Times) WHANGAREI, Thursday Sentences of imprisonment totalling four months were passed by justices at the Kaitaia Police Court, when Jerry Peter, a Maori, appeared on charges of assaulting the police while in the execution of their duty, resisting the police and using obscene language. Messrs .1. T. B. Taaffc and \Y. H. Atkins, J.s’ P . were on the Bench. The accused pleaded guilty to the charges of assault and resisting the police, but not guilty to the obscene language charge.
