PIONEER’S DEATH
MRB H. E. TRISTRAM LINK WITH EARLY HAMILTON Mrs 11. E. Tristram, who died in Hamilton on Sunday, was one of the first white children born in the district, being a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs John Edward Pearson, pioneers of Hamilton. The family arrived in Auckland on the sailing ship Alice Cameron in 1864, and in the same year Mr Pearson and his family came to Hamilton with the Fourth Walkatos. Later Mr and Mrs Pearson settled in Hamilton. Mr Pearson founding the Pearson's Soap Company. The late Mrs Tristram was married in Hamilton to Mr Henry Exford Tristram. who for many years was a prominent borough councillor. About 1 870 Mr Tristram conducted a butchery business in Hamilton East, which lie continued until 1877. when he became manager of the Pearson's Soap Company. During the time they lived in Hamilton Mr and Mrs Tristram tnok a keen interest in the affairs of the town. Mr and Mrs Tristram had 10 sons and two daughters, and all but thive sons are alive. The children are: Messrs J. L. Tristram tSydney . W. Tristram Taihape . O. Tristram Otorohanga,. E. Tristram Hamilton', R. Tristram Thames . L. Tristram and S. Tristram Hamilton : Mesdames F. Locker and J. Gunn Patea . There are 20 grandchildreo and 11 great grandchildren.
