PUKEMIRO NOTES

DANCE AND WHIST DRIVE LABOUR PARTY FUNCTION A successful dance and whist drive was held in the Pukemiro Miners’ Hall by the Pukemiro branch of the Labour party. There was a large attendance. The hall was prettily decorated tn red and white. During the evening Mr Satterthwaite, the chairman, thanked the ladies for their assistance. Mr W. Seddon, president, also spoke, expressing his pleasure at the large number present. Messrs W. Boyce and E. Hazel! were M’s.C., and the Pukemiro Revellers’ Band supplied the music. Novelty waltzes were won by Mrs Thomas and Mr W. Cole, and Miss P. Thomas and Mr 11. Fairless. The winners at whist were Mrs Peden and Mr A. Robinson. Among tho.se present were: —Mesdames W. Clout tßotowaro), plum satin. ENJOYABLE EVENING An enjoyable evening was spent recently at Mr and Mrs Tollan’s home, the funds being in aid of the Pukemiro Catholic Church. At the card tables the winners were Mrs Thomas and Mr Tollan, consolation prizes going to Mrs Tollan and Mr Chappell. A delicious supper served hv the hostess brought a jolly evening to a closeWHBST DRIVE The whist drive was held in the Miners’ Hall.
