WINS PRIZE IN AUSTRALIA COMING TO HAMILTON Miss Eileen Rowan, of Sydney, who recently won a vocal competition in connection with the 150th anniversary celebrations of New South Wales, ar- | rived in Auckland to-day by the Monj terey, and later will conic to Hamilton I to stay with her aunt, Mrs \V. .Id-dan. ' The prize for tlx 1 eoinpetilion was a trip to Hollywood, but Miss Rowan, being a cripple, was unable to take such a long journey, and so was offered the trip to New Zealand and a money prize. For some years Miss Rowan was unable to walk, but she conquered ’ this disability. She is a brilliant piani ist as well as a singer, and has been | frequently heard over the air. Mr Leo Trenette. the tenor singer who was in Hamilton recently with Stanley McKay’s Gaieties, is Miss A Rowan's brolhei'.
