COMPLAINTS OF DRINKING SLY GROG-SELLER FINED (By Telegraph.—rress Association) WELLINGTON, Friday “ Although this is the first time this man has appeared before the Court on any charge the police will say that for some years he has been a thorn in the side of law’ and order so far as contravention of the Licensing Act is concerned,” said Sub-Inspector McLean in the Magistrate's Court to-day when Harold Richard Trigwltha, boardinghouse keeper, of Pahautanui, was charged with sly grog-selling and pleaded guilty. There is a dance hall and public works camp in the district and complaints had been received of men drinking during working hours, said the police. In addition to that there had been trouble at the dances. A fine of £25 was imposed and tw r o men found on the premises were each fined £2.
