BOWLING AT ROTORUA WAIKATO RINKS ELIMINATED (Special to Times.) ROTORUA, Thursday Although Matamata Stewart was one of the seven teams which qualified for the final matches to decide the holder of the Rotorua Bowling- ‘ • hill's pen rinks championship lor the 193* season, the Waikato rink wa<-to-day eliminated in the first round of post-section play. Carlton and Ponsonby were also eliminated in the same round, leaving Rotorua Pakes , Auckland (Walker , Mount Eden Purdy, and Hallyburtn-Johnstone Hiarp to meet in the semi-finals. Following were to-day’s results effecting Waikato rinks:— Section A.—First round: Frankton Railway (Graham, Hedditch, Moreton, Crowley) 21 v. Rotorua 16. Eleventh round.—Carlton 22 v. Frankton Railway 20. Summary: 4 wins, 6 losses. Section B: Ponsonby 25 v. Putaruru 'McDermott, Jones, Paxton, Delaney) 12; Whitiora (Booth, House, Davis, Michell) 31 v. Carlton 24. Eleventh round.—Whitiora 25 v Epsom 18; Remuera 22 v. Putaruru 13. Summary: Whitiora: 7 wins, 3 losses; Putaruru, 6 wins. 4 losses. Section C.—Hamilton (Totman, Land, Rowe. Pilkington 23 v. Poverty Bay 19. Matamata v Gibson, Young, Loveridge, Stewart) 21 v. Otahuhu 14. Eleventh round.—Matamata 21 v. Auckland Transport 12; Hamilton 28 v. Grey Lynn 14. Summary: Matamata 8 wins, 2 losses; Hamilton, 5 wins, 5 losses. Section D.—Hamilton (Yeamen. Coutts. Gall, Bel!' 17 v. Hataitai 16. Eleventh round.—Hamilton 2 4 v. West End 18.
