Exchange on Notes. —Moved by Mr J. Hlslop, a resolution that the Auckland Chamber of Commerce should request the Reserve Bank to justify the demand of 24£ per centmade upon the holders of its notes as the rate necessary to effect tho exchange of such notes with sterling pounds \\;as lost after a lengthy discussion at a meeting of the council of the chamber yesterday. The chairman, Mr w. R. Fee, said the Reserve Bank was practically a State Department and Hie matter w«s more or less political. The chamber could preserve its dignity better Ilian by asklug a question tlic answer to which it already knew.
