BOOT REPAIR CHARGES

INOREABE FROM BATURDAY. WAIKATO TRADERS’ DECISION. At a special meeting of the Waikato branch of the New Zealand Boot Trades’ Association, hefd recently, the president, Mr J. P. Coulter, stated that owing to the Increase in the prices of materials It was considered advisable to raise the charges for boot repairs. Leather had been increasing steadily In price and was becoming very scarce, with the result that repairers were finding difficulty In securing sufficient stocks.

A resolution was passed stating that, owing to the Increase in the costs of materials, boot repairers in the Waikato were reluotantly compelled to advance theflr prices as from May I. It was uncertain whether the new prices would remain stable, but it was anticipated that they would rise again in the near future. The president stated that with tha inclusion of several new centres, including Ngaruawahla. Te Awamutu, Cambridge and Matamata, the meeting was the largest yet held by the Waikato branch.
