BUTTER AND CHEESE.
A GLOOMY WEEK. SHARP BREAK IN VALUES. GOOD DEMAND FOR CHEESE. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received Sept. 7, 11 t.m.) LONDON, Sept. 6 Butter opened a gloomy week with an entire absence of demand, accompanied by a sharp break in values. Holders arc becoming nervous as, despite the sound statistical position, they are anxious to keep selling. Tooley Street merchants do not expect any turn in the market for at least a lew weeks. Cheese, in contrast to butter, continues firm, though quiet, with an undertone sufficiently strong to warrant the maintenance of present values.
