SEALING 0F ROADS
FOUR-YEAR PROGRAMME. WAIPA COUNTY PROPOSALS. (Times Representative.) TE AWAMUTU, Monday. At the last meeting oi’ the Walpa County Council the engineer, Mr J. W. Civil, submitted 9. plan, extending over six years. for sealing 72 miles of important highways in the county. Councillors had asked for an alterna—tive plan covering four years, and at to-day's meeting Mr Civil submitted the schema asked for. 1 The first year's programme provided for 18 miles or road being dealt with, the second year 161} miles, with 192 miles in the following twelve months and 1“ miles in the last year. Mr Civil said he had placed the works in the order of merit, based on trams tallies and the condition of the roads in question. Considerable discussion arose over the proposals and Mr Clarke moved that the four-year plan be adapted, saying the engineer was best fitted to give the matter consideration. The four-year basis was unanimously adopted.
