After having brought the outstanding Jewish ice hockey player home from Spain to represent Germany at the winter Olympiad the Reich sport leader has brought a Jewess, Helene Mayer, back from California with a special invitation to represent Germany in fencing at the Olympiad after an assurance of a friendly welcome. Fruulein Mayer is training at Frank-furt-on-Main. She is reported to have demanded full citizenship before consenting lo represent Germany. ICE HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP. WON BY BRITAIN. (Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Feb. 19. Keen interest lias been displayed in England in the ice hockey championships at Gerniisch Partenkirehen, Germany, which were llnally decided on Sunday. Britain won the Olympic, world and European titles. The decisive match was played last week when Britain beat Canada, which never before had suffered defeat in these contests. Saturday’s match between the United States and Britain, on which a running commentary was broadcast to the British Isles, ended m a pointless draw. In the Anal match Canada beat the Uniled States, which therefore was robbed of the opportunity of further challenging Britain.
