THE HACK CUP CONTEST
An Even Array of Talent KING BRIERLY SHOULD PERFORM WELL Light Comedy The Te Rapa Hope An interesting array of talent has come forward for the Waikato Hack Gup and a fine contest is assured. King Brierly has been performing with such marked consistency of late that he appeals as a particularly hard horse to beat although his weight, on a holding track (if such prevails), may not be in his best interests. It is in his favour that he is splendidly lit for tomorrow’s engagement and that of itself commends him. Pukeko is another who has been racing well of late. Mungacre is a solid type and is in form while Tutor’s efforts at the Christmas fixture at Stratford suggest excellent chances for the Chief Ruler gelding. He ran second to Winsoreen on the first day over nine furlongs and improved on I lie second day to score narrowly from Alcides and Sporting Song over a similar distance. Dancing Lady and Red Sand should run fair races but one who is preferred Is the Te Rapa representative, Light Comedy, who since last racing has been doing everything required of her in her preparation at headquarters. She is undoubtedly improved. Valrent should be held safe by Dombey who won on the second day of the Egmont meeting over six furlongs. Barlow’s representative is reported to be in good order. Mafeking has the credentials to commend him and will be assisted by bis light imposl. Snow Lap lias" been working well at Te Awamutu. Others with Form indicates strong support forthcoming for
