DRIED GRASS.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —The particulars given by a correspondent regarding the cost of a plant to make dried grass surprised me. 1 thought that the capital expenditure would be very much higher. Now the Dominion has made many costly experiments, with railway engines and other things, so that it need not hesitate to try this. A trial plant established in a carefullyselected district might have surprising results. And the best place for that trial would be the Waikato, because both the grass and the coal are found here in abundance. It would be necessary to get a number of farmers to agree to assist, and the outcome might easily be a new system of providing winter feed, of proved quality. Why not experiment? It is an opportunity for the Minister of Agriculture and tlie Department of Scientific Research to take action. —I am, etc., PASPALUM. Cambridge, February 19.
