BLOCKHOUSES.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —For the information of “Otakau,” there is a brick blockhouse m Onehunga. It is now used as the residence of the caretaker of the park in which it is situated. Over sixty years ago I went to a private school, conducted in it by by the late Rev. George Brown, who died about two years ago, aged over ninetynine years. I remember that the doors were faced with heavy iron plates. There were loopholes in the walls. —• I am, etc., W. GARDNER. Hamilton East, February 19.
