VISIT OF KING EDWARD. FAIR OPENED AUSPICIOUBLY. GREAT INTEREST IN DOMNIONS. (Official Wireless.) (Received Feb. 20, 11.10 a.m.) RUGBY, Feb. 19. The King to-day fulfilled his first public engagement since his accession, when he visited the Olympia and White City sections of the British Industries Fair. His Majesty went straight to the stands of the Dominions and Colonies, showing great interest in the agricultural exhibits. During his two hours’ tour of the exhibition hall the King made a thorough inspection of the stands and later visited the textile and furnishing stands at White City. Expansion of Trade. The King, before leaving the Australian stall, looked up and appeared to be interested in a notice which read: “ Australia, which next to India and South Africa is the biggest buyer in the world of British goods, has always been anxious for an expansion of the trade between herself and the Mother Country. No country has done more or sacrificed more for British trade than Australia.” At Hie New Zealand stall His Majesty remarked: "1 see you’ve still got your butter.” He asked whether Britain was still the chief market for butler. “ Dli, and you’ve got passion fruit juice,” added His Majesty. The New Zealand representative explained that one use of the juice was in (lie preparation of cocktails. His Majesty asked whether New Zealand trade was improving after''the slump. The King visited ail the Empire stalls. While he was passing a girl threw a rose at the King’s feet. His Majesty smiled, bowed, and nodded to Fir Reginald Seymour, liis equerry, lo pick it up. A Rumour Denied. At the South African stall the King ■said: “ 1 want to deny the rumour that 1 am prejudiced against Ostrich feathers. If anything 1 can say will help to keep them ity fashion i will not hesitate to say it."
