LECTURES ON OBSTETRICS,
GERMAN PROFESSOR’S PLAINT. NEW ZEALAND SOCIETY'S REPLY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) STRATFORD, Friday. A statement yesterday by Professor Fraenkel, of Germany, an eminent authority on obstetrics that the suggestion that lie deliver lectures in New Zealand is not welcomed by the University authorities, was referred to to-day by Dr. Doris Gordon, the secretary of the New Zealand Obstetrical Society. , „ , Dr. Gordon said the statement that lectures were not wanted was incorrect. The .Australian authorities had communicated with Professor Fraenkcl, pointing out that it was impossible to arrange lectures in Hie Christmas season. Dr. Gordon said she received the Ill’st advice of the professor’s arrival on December 6. No direct advice was received from the professor, and under the circumstances no action was taken by the society. • “ The science of obstetrics is international,” added Dr. Gordon, *! and the society regrets that the distinguished visitor was unable to come to the Dominion at a season when members could benefit by his visit.”
