EUREKA NOTES.
DANCE AND CARD EVENING. The Eureka Sports 'Club held a very enjoyable danoe and card evening -on Monday, when the drawing of the competition also took place, Mr Shine being the holder -of the winning ticket. Mr Shine generously donated the prize to the Sports Club. Mr Whitehead supplied the musio. • Flag 500 was provided for nondancers, Misses Lozell and Harris and Mr Robinson returning the highest scores. The ladles of the Sports Club -Committee -attended to the supper arrangements and Mr V. In-glis w'as M.C. Among those present were:—Mesdames P. Shine, C. Harington, R. McKerrow, 'C. Masters, A. (2), Townsend (3), Lozell (2), S. Leask, -McKendry (2). SCHOOL CLOSINQ. A number of parents gathered at the school on Wednesday at the invl-
tatlon of the headmistress, Miss Shaw, and the School Committee. After viewing the work .of the pupils Mrs Harlngton, chairman of the School committee, congratulated Miss Shaw on the success of all the pupils presented for proficiency, all gaining a first-class pass. ' The guests then adjourned to the hall where a dainty afternoon tea was served. Maurice Duncan called for three cheers for Miss Shaw, which were heartily accorded. Among those present were: —Mes-
