GIRL GUIDES.
BREAKING-UP CEREMONY. The breaking-up ceremony of the Waitoa Girl Guide Company this year took the form of a social afternoon at Mrs F. C. Hansen’s residence, the ■guests being the Guides’ parents and members of the committee. Several of the Guides are sitting for their “Hostesses Badge," and for this purpose they received the guests, Mrs M. Maclean aoting as examining officer. On behalf -of the committee, Mrs F. G. Hansen was presented with a beautiful bouquet. The Guides then entertained with a country dance, “Indian Queen." During the afternoon, -Patrol Leader, Miss Jean -Campbell, on behalf of Acting-Captain Miss Mabel Hansen, Lieutenant Miss Jean Hansen, and members of the 'First Aid team, -presented Dr. Martin with a book in appreciation of his kindness in training them. This team was successful in winning the -First Aid Cup at the recent Te Aroha A. and P. Show. 'Other presentations were made by the president, Mr A. M. Campbell, and by the ohairwoman of the committee, Mrs F. G. Yarrall. The very enjoyable afternoon was brought to a close with the singing of “Taps" and the National Anthem.
