Some of you may imagine that no such problem exists. You may think that the success of “ Blossom Time " and “Heart’s Desire ” has guaranteed the success of Richard Tauber. The opposite is the truth. Sensational success Immediately adds to the difficulty of following out a career in films. Almost any star will tell you that it Is easy to become successful but difficult to remain successful. Many most excellent film players decline star rank for this very reason. ■
As star material Richard Tauber has many fine qualities. He has an appealing personality. He has a magnificent voice. He has a charming accent. He has a decided talent for comedy and a real sense of pathos. His handicap is that no film In which he appears Is likely to be completely acceptable unless it provides a partin which all these qualities may be illustrated.
