RESTRICTIONS ON FREIGHT. QUESTIONS IN PARLIAMENT. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. LONDON, Dec- 18. Questioned in the House of Commons' about the effect of quotas and other trade restrictions on freight, Mr Walter Runciman, President of the Board of Trade, said, amid ironioal Opposition cheers, that the policy of the Government was to provide for the removal of such restrictions. Sir, Percy Harris (Labour —Bethnal Green) asked if Sir Walter had seen llie statement by the chairman of the P. and O. Steam Navigation Company, pointing out the serious effects of restrictions on the shipping trade between Australia and Britain. Dir Runciman: Yes. I shall pay attention to that and similar recommendations.
