«s»MANCHESTER UNITY. DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE LODGE. (Special to Times.) CAMBRIDGE, Wednesday. The installation ceremony of the Duke or Cambridge Lodge was held in the Oddrellows Hall on Tuesday night. The Auckland District Grand Master, Bro. T. W. Thompson, conducted the Installation. lie was accompanied by Bros. \V. Neels, P.D.G.M. and F. Best, Group Master or Group 0 and Bros. W. G. Bates of the District Management Committee. Visitors were present rroni the Lodges at Hamilton, To Awamutu, Waihi, Morrlns-vll-le, Hot springs, Te Aroha. The N.G., Bro. N’. G. Blackburn, welcomed the District Grand Master and other ufilccrs to the Duke or Cambridge Lodge, Bro. T. W. Thompson expressed Ills pleasure at again visiting Cambridge, especially hr the capacity or Grand Master, lie said the membership In the district was progressing satlsractorily. They had a good society and members ought to be proud to belong to the Manchester Unity. In the annual report issued by the Registrar or Friendly Societies Tor the year, It was shown that the members ul Friendly Societies In New Zealand at the beginning or the year'numbered I00.?tt7 : and the year ended'with a total membership or 100,708, an increase nr -171. ■or these the Manchester Unity showed an Increase or 000 in New Zealand and 255 or these were in the Auckland District. The total number or member/! or the Manchester Unity hi New Zealand was about 25,000. or which SOOO were In the Auckland district. New Lodges had been opened recently at Tauwbaro and Kaltala. Bro. Thompson said It had been Ills wish to see an increase In tho district, lie urged the officers and members or the Cambridge Lodge to do their utmost to Increase ihe membership or the Lodge, lie pointed out that, the Cambridge Lodge is one or tho oldest in New Zealand, having been rormed in 1867. Bro. W. Neels. P.D.G.M., expressed his pleasure at being present and wished the Cambridge Lodge greater prosperity. Bro.. F. Best and Bro. Sales also spoke. The District Grand Master installed the rollowlng officers: N.G., Bro. .las. A. Stott; V.G., Bro. S. iSmtltle; elective Secretary, Bro. F. L. St. John; 1.P.N.G., Bro. N. G. Blackburn Bro. Thompson presented Bro. F. F. Edwards with tho Past Master’s Certificate.
