HOMING PIGEONS.
HAMILTON CLUB. RAGE FROM FELL DING. The Hamilton Homing Pigeon Club contested a race on Saturday from Feilding, an airline of 170 miles. The birds were liberated by the stationmaster in dull weather, with a northerly wind prevailing, resulting in a slow, hard race. Results: W. G. Pountney’s 8.-C.H. 118, 901 yards, 1; C. Crabb’s 8.C.11. 40, 897.7 yards, 2; L. Mond’s R.C.G. 74, 897.6 yards, 3; F. Woodhall's 8.8.1-I, 424, 897.5 yards, 4. Also competed: Thomas and Son, 886 yards; Biushel and Ashton, 884 yards; L. Cooper, 881 yards; P. Petry, 874 yards; F. Woodcock, 869 yards; G. Grace. The race from Blenheim next week will be the Anal event for the season. RACE FROM OAMARU. The Hamilton Homing Pigeon Club ■contested two events, early tills month from Dmaru (550 miles) and Dunedin 610 miles. The birds from both races were liberated early on Saturday morning in June weather with a light New Zealand wind prevailing. The Oamaru race was a triumph for Mr L. Cooper who won first and second prizes with his two entrants who flew the distance in 18J hours, also winning the gold medal donated by the club. These were the only birds home in race time. The Dunedin race, which is the longest distance attempted by the ■club was successfully accomplished by six of the twelve -competitors, five arriving on the day following deliberation, while the last bird arrived on the fourth day of the race. The winning bird, which arrived home on Sunday at 9.30 a-m., covered the distance 610 miles in 19£ hours and won for the owners. Messrs Bushel and Ashton, flrst prize and a silver cup donated by Mr A. Sharpe. Results of Races. Oamaru (550 miles). —L. Cooper, 8.-G.'C. “4,” 873yds, 1; L. Cooper, 8.C.H., “116," 807yds, 2. Woodhall’s B.C.C. "376,” 671yds, 5; F. Woodcock's 8.C.C., “242," 259yds, 6. These were the only arrivals from both races.
