FALSE IMPRISONMENT.
EX-REOTOR SECURES DAMAGES. LONDON, November 29. Damages totaling £382 were awarded to Mr Harold Francis Davidson, exreotor of Stiffkey, at Manchester Assizes yesterday, says the News ChronicleMr Davidson claimed damages against the Mayor, aldermen and burgesses of Blackpool for alleged false Imprisonment. He also alleged that he had been maliciously and falsely charged with “attempting to kill and murder himself by fasting” at a Blackpool exhibition. On that charge Mr Davidson, who was committed for trial to the sessions,at Preston, was found not guilty and was discharged. In yesterday’s action the Jury, after an absence of two hours and forty minutes, gave their answers to .points raised by the judge. The judge said that on their verdict ho must rule that the Blackpool authorities did not, honestly believe their case against Mr Davidson, and that there was want of reasonable and proper cause. Therefore, there would be judgment for Mr Davidson, with costs. .
