OBITUARY

MR A. J. BROAD. CAMBRIDGE IDENTITY. (Special to Times.) CAMBRIDGE, Saturday. The death occurred yesterday at hi., residence Williams Street, of Mr Alfred John Broad) aged 8j years. Deceased was born in England ana had been-a resident of Cambridge for 28 years. He was the foundei' of the firm of Broad and Broad, provision merchants, of Duke Street. The firm went out of business about five years ago and since then deceased had liven in retirement. He is survived by his wife and two sons. A daughter predeceased him some years'ago. . Mi 4. MRS ELEANOR JORDAN. TAURANGA, Saturday. The death occurred at her home in .Tauranga yesterday of Mrs Eleanor Jordan, widow of the late Canon Charles Jordan, in her 100th year. The late Mrs Jordan was born in Ireland and was married there to Mr Jordan, and they came to New Zealand In 1872, making their home in Tauranga. The late Canon Jordan was the first vicar of Tauranga, a position he held for 40 years, until his death 23 years ago. The names of Canon and Mr 3 Jordan are inseparably linked with the history of the town.

Despite her years Mrs Jordan had never been bed-ridden and she retained all her faculties to tile end. She always look an Interest in Church affairs, and attended the jubilee celebrations of the Church last month. When the late Sir Charles (Kingsl'ord Smith visited Tauranga she made a flight with him in the Southern Cross. Mrs Jordan is survived by three children, Mr Charles Jordan, Auckland and Mesdames H. H. Clcmson and G. Norris, Tauranga, MR J. H. JACKSON. AUCKLAND, Saturday. The death ocourred yesterday of a well-known Auckland business man, Mr John Ilughllngs Jackson, of Remuera Road, at the age of 65. He was a principal In the real estate firm of T.
