GIFT EVENING.
FOR MISS MARIE WEBB. The Alarist Hall was a -scene of gaiety on Tuesday evening when Airs J. W. Snelgar was hostess at a gift evening for Aliss Alarie Webb, who is shortly to he married. The hostess received her guests wearing a frock of floral marlene -crepe. The guest of honour was wearing a shantung frock relieved with green. Air L. Webster was AI.-C. The evening was spent in -dancing, items and -community singing, led by Air J. Battersby. Duets by Aliss Dulcie Evans and Air J. Battersby, songs by Miss C. Taylor, elocution by Aliss P. Jamieson, tap dancing by Air Tom Barnett anti steel guitar items by Air At. Devitt were very much appreciated. Competitions were won by Alisses P. Arns, D. -Rendle, P. Jamieson, S. Devitt and partners. Alusie was supplied by Green’s Orchestra. The feature of the evening was the opening of the many beautiful -gifts by the guest of honour. Air Jack Rendlc on behalf of Miss Webb suitably replied. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought the happy evening to a close. Among those present were: —Alesdames AT. Webb, J. Wallace, junior, S.
