The Department of National Revenue has announced that the dumping duties on arbitrary valuations against British goods will be discontinued, thus terminating one phase of the long dispute between-'the importers of British goods and the department. The broadening of the definition of the word “direct” as applied to shipments to Canada from other parts of the Empire having trade treaties with Canada is also announced. I’he effect of this will be to permit goods en route to Canada to enjoy the benefits of the treaty rates if transhipped in any British country.
