Belgian Mourning Stamp.—Described by notable philatelists as one of the most beautiful stamps ever issued. a mourning stamp in memory of the late Queen of the Belgians has been issued under the special order of King Leopold throughout Belgium. He has done honour to the memory of his Queen by directing that it will bear a premium of 5 centimes for the benefit of the charities in which she was actively interested. The stamp itself according to a Hamilton collector is a reproduction of one of the most charming portraits of Queen Astrid in photogravure surrounded by a black border. Up to December 1 'the stamp possessed only one face value of 70 centimes but after this date it was to be issued in other denominations.
