MORNING TEA.

NATIONAL COUNCIL OF WOMEN-—,—-a MISS E. ANDREW’S ADDRESS. A very interesting morning tea was held by members of the Hamilton branch of the National Council of "Women and friends yesterday morning, when Miss Elsie Andrews, Foundation President of the National Council of Women in New Plymouth, gave a short address. The lounge was gay with gladioli and larkspurs and a delicious morning tea was served. The guests were received by the President of the Hamilton Branch of the National Council of Women, Mrs A. M. Bisley, wearing an ensemble in pink silk linen and beige hat; Miss Andrews was wearing a black frock and hat. Miss Andrews was introduced to members by Mrs Bisley-, after which she gave a most interesting address. .Miss Andrews said she felt that the need for women in Parliament was a pressing one. The women who endured the most hardships in New Zealand to-day were the small farmers’ wives, who were doing two jobs. The world, she felt had two eyes, the man’s eye and the woman’s, and unless they were both in perfect focus the vision was blurred and did not allow a balanced judgment. Women's Interest would always be in matters connected with life, and lines along which they could help were health, child welfare and education. Miss Andrews concluded with some amusing experiences during her recent electioneering campaign, after which she answered questions put by members. Mrs Bisley then, on behalf of members, extended a very hearty vote of thanks to Miss Andrews for her Interesting address. Among -those present were:—Mesdames J. Prenton, A. G. Sanford, W. J. Stevens, C- H. Holloway, N. Grant, H. C. Ross, G. Bary, P. Snell, A. E. McCracken, Warder, Hamerton, Seifert, Walker, Beaglehole, Wallace, Stephenson Craig, Dr. de la Mare, Miss G. Roche.
